Is MemoPryl Safe? A Look at 8 Ingredients and 4 Safety Flags

Quick answer

Is MemoPryl safe? It depends on you. For healthy adults on no medicines, side effects in the sources are mostly mild. Four flags matter: St. John's wort drug clashes, bleeding risk, seizure and slow-heart cautions, and amounts that are not published. No trial of the formula exists. Ask a pharmacist first if you take any prescription.

The six named ingredients on the brand graphic. The graphic gives no amounts and no warnings.

Is MemoPryl safe for most healthy adults?

Is MemoPryl safe? No one can promise it for every buyer. No trial of the MemoPryl formula has been published, and its amounts are not public. So no one can say how often any side effect happens.

What we have is the safety record of each named ingredient on its own. For a healthy adult who takes no medicines, those records mostly point to mild effects: stomach upset, headache, dizziness and poor sleep. Many of those effects were seen at study doses, and we cannot tell whether a MemoPryl capsule reaches them.

What does each named ingredient say about safety?

Reported safety notes for each ingredient on its own, not for the MemoPryl formula
IngredientSafety noteSource
PhosphatidylserineMay lower blood pressure, raise weight and add bleeding riskADDF
Ginkgo biloba leafDizziness, stomach upset, headache; bleeding risk with warfarinNCCIH
N-acetyl L-carnitine HClNear 3 g a day: nausea, cramps, diarrhea; seizures in people with seizure disordersNIH ODS
St. John's wortDiarrhea, dizziness, poor sleep; many drug interactions; sun sensitivity at large dosesNCCIH
Brahmi (Bacopa)Nausea, stomach cramps; care with thyroid medicineADDF
L-glutamineSwelling, headache, nausea; rare reports of liver or kidney injuryMSKCC
Alpha-GPC (seller list)Heartburn, headache, insomnia, dizzinessADDF

The side effects page links each source. Remember that the last two names come from the eBay seller's list only.

Flag 1: why does St. John's wort matter most for MemoPryl safety?

Because it changes how the body handles other drugs. NCCIH says it can weaken many medicines and interact in dangerous, sometimes life-threatening ways (NCCIH, St. John's wort).

Birth control pills, warfarin and some antidepressants are on the list. So are some heart, HIV, transplant, seizure and cancer drugs. In adults who take no medicines, the herb appears safe for up to 12 weeks. No image of either label warns about it.

Flag 2: does MemoPryl raise bleeding risk?

Possibly, through two ingredients. Ginkgo raises bleeding risk with warfarin (NCCIH, Ginkgo). Phosphatidylserine may increase bleeding risk by itself (ADDF, Phosphatidylserine).

Tell your surgeon or dentist about MemoPryl before any procedure. Watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds or bleeding gums, and report them.

Flag 3: what are the seizure and slow-heart cautions?

Acetyl-L-carnitine has been linked to seizures in people with seizure disorders (NIH ODS, Carnitine). Huperzine A may worsen some forms of epilepsy and might lower the heart rate (ADDF, Huperzine A).

Huperzine A acts much like prescription Alzheimer's drugs. Taken with donepezil-type drugs, it may add to their side effects. If you have epilepsy, a slow pulse or a dementia drug, ask your doctor first.

Flag 4: how safe is a capsule when its amounts are not published?

That is the quiet flag. You cannot compare a capsule with a study dose if you cannot see the amount. The serving size and the directions are not published either.

Read your own back panel before the first capsule. If it shows no serving, ask the seller. The lot code MEM-26/ME-6414 and the certificate code MEM-6414-26-ME are seller reference codes, not lab proof, and no lab report is published.

When should you stop MemoPryl and call a doctor?

Stop and call your doctor if any of these happen. Bring the bottle.

  • Unusual bleeding or bruising, especially on warfarin or before surgery.
  • A slow, skipping or weak pulse, or feeling faint.
  • A seizure, or a new tremor or confusion.
  • A prescription that seems weaker,.
  • A rash, swelling or trouble breathing.

Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or weakness on one side can be a stroke. Call 911 (CDC, Stroke signs).

The side effects checklist walks through your first capsule.

Does the quality side change whether MemoPryl is safe?

It limits what we can say. The FDA does not approve dietary supplements before sale (FDA, Supplement Q&A). No lab, certifier or facility is named behind the brand badges.

That does not make the capsules unsafe. It means a buyer has fewer ways to check. Our testing and quality page lists the papers that would answer each open question.

Is MemoPryl safe: common questions

Is MemoPryl safe with birth control?

Ask your doctor first. St. John's wort can make birth control pills work less well, so pregnancy becomes more likely (NCCIH, St. John's wort).

Can I take it with an antidepressant?

Only with your doctor's approval. Some antidepressants plus St. John's wort can cause serious serotonin side effects. Keep taking your prescribed medicine meanwhile.

Is it safe for older adults?

Yes, if they take no prescription medicine. That is less common after 60, so most need a pharmacist check first.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

No. St. John's wort and ginkgo may be unsafe in pregnancy, and breastfed babies may get colic or drowsiness.

Is MemoPryl safe to take every day?

No study of the formula exists, so nobody can say. St. John's wort appears safe for up to 12 weeks in adults on no medicines, and longer use has less data.

Is MemoPryl FDA approved?

No. It is a dietary supplement, and the FDA does not approve supplements before sale (FDA, Approval myths).

Our view: should you rely on this?

MemoPryl is not safe for everyone, and nobody can prove it is safe for anyone, because the formula itself was never tested in a published trial. For a healthy adult on no medicines, the risks in the sources look mild.

For anyone on prescriptions, the St. John's wort flag alone is a reason to ask first. We sell MemoPryl and earn from order links, so please weigh this page with a pharmacist's advice. This is information, not medical advice.
